Lara Spencer, co-anchor of Good Morning America, has recently shared a surprising health update with her followers.Ā

The 55-year-old television personality took to Instagram to reveal that she had undergone surgery on both of her feet, albeit for different reasons.

Her candid update came just as the year was winding down,Ā and she showcased her recovery process with two photos that offered a glimpse into her post-surgery life.

In her Instagram post from December 11, Spencer first shared a selfie with her doctor, humorously captioning the photo:

ā€œIf I look a little groggy itā€™s thanks to this guy who just gave me a new pair of boots.ā€

She added a playful touch, mentioning that although the boots werenā€™t cowboy boots, she was hopeful that she would be rocking them in about six weeks. The second photo offered a closer look at her recovery, with Spencer showing off her post-surgery footwearā€” a mid-calf gray boot on her left foot and a black ankle boot on her right, both of which were accompanied by gauze and ace bandages.

While Spencerā€™s right foot had undergone a less complicated procedure, she explained that the surgery was to remove a plate that had been inserted during an earlier operation. The left foot, however, required more extensive work. Spencer shared that her left foot injury was a result of a college diving accident. ā€œI was doing a reverse one and a half and hit the board, shattering toes and joints,ā€ she recalled. At the time, the only option was to tape the injury and wait for it to heal naturally. However, thanks to advancements in medical treatment, Spencer was able to undergo surgery with the help of Dr. Marty Oā€™Malley at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS).

Reflecting on the difference in treatment options available today, Spencer expressed gratitude for the progress in medical technology that allowed her to correct this long-standing injury. As a lighthearted way to wrap up her post, she referenced a classic Nancy Sinatra song, joking, ā€œThese boots were made for walking.ā€

Spencerā€™s followers quickly flooded the comments with messages of support and humor, offering encouragement and well wishes as she recovers. Co-star Rebecca Jarvis sent her love, saying, ā€œSweetie!! Feel better soonā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹.ā€ Others expressed admiration for the advances in medical care, with one commenter noting, ā€œAmazing the advances they have made. Heal quickly.ā€ U.S. figure skater Adam Rippon also chimed in with a joke, saying, ā€œOmg!!! Love the new open toed shoes.ā€

Many of Spencerā€™s followers, including some familiar faces in the industry, were impressed by her resilience. Dr. Jen Ashton praised her toughness, commenting, ā€œJesus!!! Who does both feet at the same time???? My girl, thatā€™s who! So tough! Sending u speedy love to fast recovery! Weā€™ve got dancin to do!ā¤ļøā¤ļø.ā€ Another user reassured Spencer, saying, ā€œDr. Oā€™Malley is the best! No doubt youā€™ll be back on your feet again soon! šŸ˜Š.ā€
