Late-Night Host Expresses Gratitude for Medical Team, Family, and Supporters

Jimmy Kimmel is breathing a sigh of relief and sharing his gratitude after his 7-year-old son, Billy, successfully underwent his third open-heart surgery over the weekend.

Taking to Instagram, the 56-year-old late-night host posted a heartwarming photo of Billy smiling from his hospital bed, revealing that the surgery was a success.

Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, have been open about their son’s battle with congenital heart disease, which was diagnosed at birth in 2017.

“This weekend, our boy Billy had his third (of three, we hope) open-heart surgery. We went into this experience with a lot of optimism and nearly as much fear and came out with a new valve inside a happy, healthy kid,” Kimmel wrote.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Doctors, Nurses & Supporters

The talk show host expressed deep appreciation for the medical professionals at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, who have played a critical role in Billy’s health journey.

“Walking around this hospital, meeting parents at their most vulnerable, children in pain, and the miracle workers who do everything in their considerable power to save them is a humbling experience,” he shared.

Kimmel also gave special thanks to his friends, family, and even strangers who sent prayers, well wishes, and positive energy.

“The love and support we’ve received from people we know—and even from those we don’t—has meant everything,” he continued.

The comedian reserved a heartfelt message for his wife, Molly, calling her “stronger than any mother should ever have to be.” He also praised Billy, referring to him as “the toughest (and funniest) 7-year-old we know.”

Recognizing that not all families are as fortunate, Kimmel encouraged his followers to donate to children’s hospitals, highlighting the importance of organizations like @ChildrensLA and @CMNHospitals.

Last month, as Billy celebrated his 7th birthday, Kimmel reflected on his son’s journey and his heartwarming wish to give back.

“Billy is asking friends to ‘give $7 because I’m seven’ to help kids in the hospital. His goal is to raise $100 to help sick kids,” Kimmel wrote. “If you’d like to donate, thank you.”

A recent photo showed Billy proudly sporting a Lakers jersey and clutching a basketball, looking stronger than ever.

“This boy is seven years old because of you,” Kimmel posted. “Molly and I are overwhelmed by your generous donations and kind messages. Thank you for all the love. We wish you and your families good health and great friends.”

Billy’s journey continues to inspire millions, proving that with love, resilience, and the right support, even the toughest battles can be won. ❤️
