Judge Gregg Wallace acknowledged that while she is a talented cook some one had to go – forcing her early exit from the show.

Diane went on to explain how her family convinced her to join the show, she said: ‘It was mostly through persuasion, my kids thought it’d be great.

‘They love watching Celebrity MasterChef. They thought it’d be fun, and I suppose, a bit of a challenge to see if I could get a kick start into entertaining again! For years, I’ve always had family and friends around and I’ve loved entertaining.

‘I’m very happy to try out new recipes with friends – If they don’t work, they don’t work. Our house had been undergoing some building work and I had been without a proper kitchen or a fully functional oven for about a year when I was asked to take part in ‘Celebrity MasterChef’. I certainly hadn’t been entertaining!

‘Indeed, I was practising some of my ‘MasterChef’ dishes alongside a staircase being installed!’

Last week, socialite Emma Weymouth was eliminated with fans of the show saying she struggled to hide her disappointment.

The 38-year-old Marchioness of Bath got the boot from the all-star cooking competition just ahead of the quarter finals.

She faced off against singer, actor and presenter Jake Quickenden, actor Tamer Hassan, and comedian Jamie MacDonald.

However, after three grueling challenges in the kitchen, Emma failed to impress the judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace enough to earn her a place in the next round.

The episode began with a unique trial that saw the four eager celebrities be split into two teams – with Tamer and Emma as one duo, and Jake and Jamie as another.

After finding out that she had lost her place in the show, Emma said: ‘None of this has felt real at all. I can’t believe I did it.

‘I’m proud of myself for doing what I’ve done. I’m happy to go home to my kids and my husband and have a rest.’

Meanwhile, the other three contestants cheered as the judges announced they would be quarter finalists.
